It uses the engine sound with the Landship. It boosts weight and traction while reducing acceleration and handling. The Inkstriker shares its stats with the Sports Coupe and the Mach 8 karts. Inklings have their own color schemes, much similar in the vein of the Splat Buggy.

Characters outside of the Inklings use the Purple Inkling Boy variation of the vehicle, with a ? Block featured in the vehicle (this also applies to Link, the Villagers, and Isabelle, who are not part of the Super Mario franchise). It has two tanks of ink at the back, which have the same ink color as the Inkling being played as (purple if playing as anyone else), and features unique exhaust pipes that spray ink when getting a speed boost. The vehicle is named and based on the Inkstrike weapon from the Splatoon series. Unlike the Splat Buggy, the vehicle is unlockable. It is one of the two ATVs based on the Splatoon series and in turn the Inklings' signature vehicles, the other being the Splat Buggy. The Inkstriker is one of the three additional vehicle bodies in Mario Kart 8 Deluxe not present in the original game.
